FEDORA Special Event: Voices of Creation - In Conversation with the 2025 FEDORA Prizes Winners at L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts
Bringing together members of the cultural community, partners, supporters and friends of FEDORA, the event offered a unique opportunity to meet two of the visionary artists behind this year’s award-winning projects, as guests were welcomed for an inspiring conversation featuring Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, choreographer of Gentleman Jack, winner of the FEDORA –
VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize 2025, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, and Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern, co-director and video designer of The Curing Line, winner of the FEDORA Opera Prize 2025, supported by The Silver Company.
Moderated by our Director Edilia Gänz, the conversation offered an intimate and in-depth exploration of the artists’ creative journeys and artistic practices. The discussion unfolded around key themes, including what first drew them to their art forms, how their award-winning projects came to life, and the initial ideas that shaped their development.
The artists reflected on the contemporary relevance of their work, the narratives and concepts at its core, and the impact they hope to have on audiences. They also shared insights into their creative processes, describing how ideas evolve from early inspiration into fully realised productions through close collaboration with their artistic teams.
Innovation and risk-taking were central to the exchange, with both artists speaking about the challenges of pushing artistic boundaries, moments of uncertainty along the way, and the ways they overcame obstacles throughout their creative process.
They further reflected on what receiving the FEDORA Prize has made possible, from new opportunities to the development of their projects and its broader influence on their artistic trajectories, opened onto the future, with both creators sharing what lies ahead for their projects and the new artistic directions they continue to explore.
The evening continued with a cocktail reception, allowing guests to exchange directly with the artists and members of the FEDORA community. Attendees also enjoyed a private visit of the exhibition Daniel Brush, the Art of Line and Light, discovering the remarkable work of the American artist and goldsmith in the unique setting of L’ÉCOLE.
This special gathering highlighted FEDORA’s commitment to fostering dialogue between artists, audiences and supporters, while celebrating the creative talent and bold artistic visions that define the FEDORA Prizes.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Van Cleef & Arpels and to L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts for hosting this memorable evening.
We warmly thank all our guests for joining us in celebrating the future of opera and dance.
